These 2 brothers from the same mother, Jef and Yves, met each other for the first time at her death bed last year. After she passed away they decided to stay in contact and do stuff together. Being both music freaks it was easy to decide what this should be. With Jef being the lyrical mastermind and Yves a multi instrumentalist and production brain, it seemed only logical to adopt their mum's maiden name as band name. And so Van Echelpoel was born. Their first ever song together "Ziet Em Duun" translated in English to mean “Look at Him” took the Belgian charts by storm and has been at Number 1 in the Belgium Charts for 16 Weeks. Already in the UK the single has entered the Cool Cuts Charts and is on the MTV Dance International Playlist and receiving regualar rotation on MTV Dance UK. “Ziet Em Duun” is completely sung in the slang of their morther’s native village and translates loosely as “Look at him”. Mind you: even for the native-speaking Belgians the subtitles on the video were more than welcome to make fully sense of the song. Regardless the language gap the track became a huge success in Belgium. Here are some impressive stats that would make most international acts jealous: • 2nd best selling track in Belgium ever in the local tongue • Best selling track ever in slang • The only track in Flemish to cross 3 million streams on Spotify • 2nd most played track on the radio • Several weeks #1 on Youtube in Belgium • #2 Shazam in Belgium • Double Platinum status
