Release Date: 16th October, 2026.
When Big Brother launched in the UK in the year 2000 it started a cultural phenomenon and the prelude to a glut of reality TV shows.
The theme to that iconic show was created by the legendary DJ/producer Paul Oakenfold, a Goa trance inspired track that hit the zeitgeist perfectly. This was after all the era of Cream and the super-club.
Under the pseudonym of ‘Elementfour’ the powerful theme soon became iconic and subsequently landed in the UK top 5 in the singles chart. The motif has continued to be used in various guises in subsequent iterations of the show right up until 2023. Commercially the track has been one of the most successful TV themes in UK music history.
Fast forward to 2026 and Big Brother is about to hit our screens once more. To celebrate this return Paul Oakenfold has created some reworks of the famous theme.
For the first time a vocal has been added to the theme. Taking the track down a distinctly drum and bass path this classy new interpretation features a topline from songwriter de jour Raphaella. Having featured on massive cuts by Rudimental, Wilkinson, Gorgon City, D.O.D. and more the London based artist has taken the TV theme into new territory.
With ‘Eyes On You’ Raphaella’s sultry vocals sit perfectly over the energetic mix of heavy beats and scything chords creating a hook laden piece of D’n’B goodness.
In addition to the new vocal treatment Oakey also brings in social media star and man of the people Fish56Octagon. Inspired by late 90’s speed garage Fish takes the trance vibes of the original and fuses it with a dirty, bass heavy 187 Lockdown vibe.
There are also new club forward remixes from the man himself in the shape of the melodic tech updated 2026 theme and the heads down euphoric trance of ‘Paul Oakenfold’s Watching You Mix’ respectively.
