Some of the darkest negative days of the UK’s third Covid lockdown in cold January 2021 amazingly created a project full of hope, inspiration and positivity.
Accidentally meeting through the radio promotion of his track “The Weekend”, Nathan X was interviewed by Neal McClelland on his syndicated Nocturnal Radio Show on Cool FM. After talking for literally several minutes the two found a massive mutual love for House Music production. It turns out the unlikely duo created a concept project for an ‘unknown new freedom of the future’
‘We knew where it was going, we just needed a key to open the door’ Nathan X explains, his electronic background is solid with years in the Basement Jaxx stable, recent Top 10s in MW Chart and a #1 in USA Chart with his remix of the iconic soul track ‘Saturday Love’ with Cherelle & Alexander O’Neal. Nathan has also remixed Fat Boy Slim, Aluna George, All Saints, Stereo Mc’s.
‘Our passion for the groove and interest in production literally showed itself as I was interviewing Nathan for his “Weekend” track, we literally just clicked. There was a problem though; Covid restrictions prevented me from travelling to London to sit in the studio every day. Zoom let’s us work together virtually’ Neal says.
Neal’s background is at the forefront of new music in Northern Ireland’s leading commercial radio stations Cool FM & Downtown Radio where he created the concept of Nocturnal Radio Show. It now boasts syndication across the UK & Australia. Interviewing some of the Worlds biggest producers and now in its 4th year, the show is widely respected and seen as a ‘force majeure’ by the industry.
McClelland has also had chart success in his Cristobal & Jamiez project as a co-producer in both Cool Cuts and Music Week Club Chart. Getting the nod and testimony’s from David Holmes, Alex Patterson and radio support from BBC Introducing Scotland / Capital Dance / Capital Radio & Kiss FM and live stream support from Benny Benassi, Riva Starr, Jamie Jones, Roger Sanchez & Claptone.
‘ “Holding On” is literally a feeling, notion and expression of the journey we have all been on in the world we live in’ explains Nathan, McClelland says the track is ‘post lockdown’, with feel good vibes of positivity’
‘We created a groove perfectly placed with major chords, future production, full of hope, energy and perfect for summer ’21.’ Nathan says with a smile.
Fresh, punchy and cool vocals are by new unsigned and unknown artist Felix Culpa who adds a young Elderbrook style sound to compliment on the duos’ project first official release.
Additional support comes in the from of CHAR who was the featured artist on “The Weekend”, plus additional production from TOMODAY.
