Funky Disco Syndicate is the brand-new house music project from the legendary Joe Smooth and Olivieri featuring the dynamic, powerhouse, falsetto vocal of another Chicago legend – Byron Stingily.
Funky Disco Syndicate first single is “Side Holiday”, with Byron’s distinctive vocal taking us on a beautiful musical journey. Classic mixes by Eric Kupper & DJ Meme.
Byron Stingily had a succession of hits in the1980s and 90s as the lead singer of Ten City. As a solo artist, he had three Number 1 hit singles in the USA. In 1997 he spent a week in the top spot with “Get Up Everybody”, then hit Number 1 again in 1998 with a remake of Sylvester’s “You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)”. In 1989 he returned to the Number 1 spot for Ten City with “That’s the Way Love Is”.
Following Ten City’s mid-’90s split, Stingily recorded and performed extensively as a solo artist. In 2021, however, Byron teamed up with his legendary production and writing partner Marshall Jefferson to release “Be Free” and the Album “Judgement”, which was nominated for the Grammy Award for best dance/electronic music album. It was also the first single in 25 years to be credited to the Chicago vocal group Ten City, whose recordings have epitomised deep house with their basis in gospel and soul, sending messages of love and positivity.
Now in 2024, Byron Stingily is back with Funky Disco Syndicate and is taking us all on a Side Holiday.
