Born in the rhythmic heart of Chicago, under the shimmering city lights, emerged a dance diva – Victoria Sharpe, who would soon be known to the world as the electrifying Celeda.
Celeda began having international hits starting on the US Dance Charts in the late 1990s, with “Music Is the Answer (Dancin’ & Prancin’),” a collaboration with superstar DJ and producer Danny Tenaglia which peaked at Number 15 in the USA in 1998. The single reached Number 36 in the UK Single Chart in September 1998.
Celeda’s journey began with the soulful echoes of a church choir, where her voice, rich and full of promise, rose from the age of seven. She graced the renowned Cosmopolitan Choir, her voice weaving through tours, leaving a trail of melodies in its wake.
Destiny played its tune when house producer Robert Coddington discovered her, and like a phoenix reborn, Victoria Sharpe transformed into Celeda. She became the pulsating heart of the group Heavy Hitters, a name that echoed in the throbbing beats of clubs worldwide. Together, they crafted a symphony of club hits like “Messin’ with My Mind,” “Get It Together,” and the resonating “I Feel It.”
Her debut solo album, “This Is It,” emerged in mid-1999 on Twisted Records, a crescendo in her soaring career. The album featured tracks produced by E-Smoove, Danny Tenaglia, Cevin Fisher, Peter Rauhofer and Maurice Joshua amongst others. The tracks released as singles were “Messin’ with My Mind” (1997), “Music Is the Answer (Dancin’ & Prancin’)” (1998), “Be Yourself (And No One Else)” and “Burnin’ Up” (1999). The album contained the dance hits “Let the Music Use You Up” and “Happy”.
The following year, Celeda graced the world with an EP of remixes of the heart-thumping single “The Underground,” an absolute smashing classic club track that resonated with every beat of the dance floor.
But the musical journey didn’t end there, now for 2024 with “Believe in the Music,” her latest and last masterpiece on the Stickman label, Celeda teamed up with the sensational Suzanne Palmer. This track isn’t just a song; it’s a tribute, a reverberating homage to the luminaries we’ve lost in the house music industry. Crafted with a message of hope and love, “Believe in the Music” is more than a melody; it’s an anthem for every heart across the globe that beats in rhythm with the transcendent power of music. Celeda’s voice echoes the sentiment of millions who, just like her, “BELIEVE IN THE MUSIC.”
