When Big Brother launched in the UK in the year 2000 it started a cultural phenomenon and the prelude to a glut of reality TV shows.
The theme to that iconic show was created by the legendary DJ/producer Paul Oakenfold, a Goa trance inspired track that hit the zeitgeist perfectly. This was after all the era of Cream and the super-club. Under the pseudonym of ‘Elementfour’ the powerful theme soon became iconic and subsequently landed in the UK top 5 in the singles chart. The motif has continued to be used in various guises in subsequent iterations of the show right up until 2023. Commercially the track has been one of the most successful TV themes in UK music history.
